THE RIGHT WORD, OPEN TO EVERYONE

For the words just out of reach.

MotJuste is a free vocabulary workbench for writers. Start with an idea, a feeling, or a half-remembered phrase.

Editorial care

Vocabulary is curated in a private Notion database. Only reviewed public fields are copied to the website. Personal learning records, sources, private notes, and comments stay private. Demo entries are marked and contain original development copy.

How search works

The self-hosted search combines word matching, spelling tolerance, definitions, phrases, and—when the local model is connected—concept similarity. No paid AI API receives your search. Suggestions are options for your judgment, not automatic substitutions.

Your privacy

Read the full Privacy Policy for accounts, the extension, cookies, retention, and your choices.

Public search doesn’t require an account. Theme and view preferences are stored on your device. Signed-in sessions use an essential secure cookie. Your account stores your email, a password hash, and the words, lists, notes, and progress you choose to save.

Optional first-party analytics require your browser opt-in and respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Random first-party identifiers measure visits and usage; they are not fingerprints. Only exact public dictionary terms may be retained for top-word statistics. Free-text queries, writing passages, personal notes, passwords, and tokens are not stored in analytics. Detailed events expire after 90 days and pseudonymous visit records after 400 days; aggregate hourly counts are retained. Administrators see aggregate reports. Referrer categories do not prove organic search traffic. Essential abuse controls use hashed network identifiers.

Optional usage measurement

Help improve MotJuste by allowing first-party usage analytics. This is off until you choose to enable it.

Your data

Personal learning data never changes the editorial vocabulary. Community suggestions remain in a review queue. Use the report form to contact the site’s editor about a correction or a data-access request.
